Ten Questions with Blaine:
1. What’s your current role at Paychex: Developer– Solution Lead
2. One Professional Accomplishment you’re most proud of: I designed conference control features that are used by the Secretary of Defense and President.
3. What interesting technologies are you currently using: Kafka, Angular, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes (Openshift), Mongo. Jenkins, Groovy, and Gradle.
4. What do you love about the work you do: I work in a great environment with great co-workers; we have the freedom to alter designs and promote change and efficiency improvements as needed. I work on cool projects such as Conference Control features for the government and distributed financial transactions network architecture.
5. What’s your best sports story: Pro/Am Paintball... hmm where to begin
6. Favorite vacation and one place you’d love to go: My favorite vacation is anywhere with family. I’d love to hike the outback!
7. Favorite thing to do in Rochester in the summer: Fishing, hiking and bike riding
8. What chore do you absolutely hate doing: Shoveling
9. What is your biggest pet peeve with modern technology: There are so many frameworks and tools that have specific pros and cons. Wouldn’t it be nice if there were a couple that could do everything right?
10. Why did you volunteer to be a mentor: I’ve been fortunate to have been surrounded by technology experts that were never afraid to share their knowledge and I want to continue that legacy by paying it forward.
